Praying with Poetry: Lectio Divina and the Joy of Diving Deep

Posted on December 1, 2015 by Joel Fichter

Martin Luther described prayer as a four-stranded garland, with the strands representing moments:

  1. Instruction
  2. Thanksgiving
  3. Confession
  4. Guidance

In its original form, Lectio Divinia presents a devotional way of reading the Scriptures to gain instruction from the Word then moving beyond the Bible to apply its lessons to our daily life.

In this way, we dive deep into selected poems to find their personal meaning to us, then go further to examine how we can appreciate these insights in our daily lives. Diving deep, we will not be disappointed!
